How to Check LTMS Violations and Demerit Points
Check traffic violations and demerit points on your LTMS dashboard, understand what the points mean, and settle violations before renewal.
Not sure if that traffic stop last month went on your record? The LTMS Portal shows your violations and demerit points in about a minute. Here's where to look and what the numbers mean.
How to check your violations
- Log in at portal.lto.gov.ph with your registered email and password.
- Open your dashboard — your driver profile is the first thing you see.
- Look for the violations or apprehensions section. Every recorded traffic violation under your license is listed with the date, the offense, and its status (settled or unsettled).
- Your demerit point balance appears alongside it.

What are demerit points?
The LTO assigns demerit points for traffic violations. Minor offenses add a few points; serious ones — reckless driving, DUI, hit-and-run — add many. The points accumulate on your record, and the consequences scale up:
- Low balance: no action needed, but the points stay on your record for the counting period.
- Reaching the threshold: your license can be suspended — you can't legally drive until the suspension lifts.
- Very high accumulation: the LTO can revoke your license entirely, which means going through the application process again from scratch.
This is why checking matters: drivers are often surprised to learn old unsettled violations are still counting against them.
What to do if you find violations
- Read each entry carefully — note the offense, date, and whether it's marked settled or unsettled.
- Settle unsettled violations — you can pay the corresponding fines through the portal's online payment. Unsettled violations can block your next license renewal.
- Dispute errors in person — if a violation on your record isn't yours or the details are wrong, contesting it requires a branch visit with supporting documents. The portal shows the record; corrections happen offline.
Violations and license renewal
Here's the connection most people miss: unsettled violations and a high demerit balance can stop your renewal cold. The portal flags them during the application. Check and settle before you start — our license renewal guide walks through the full process.
Keep your record clean
- Settle fines promptly instead of letting them sit.
- Check your dashboard every few months — errors and forgotten violations surface early.
- Drive like your license depends on it, because the points say it does.
